Kashmir Solution

Attacks on Kashmiris continue, despite repeated assurances by the governor. Many truck drivers have returned back to the valley telling their  woeful tales. The HINDU FUNDAMENTALISTS are increasingly targeting  Kashmiris, attacking them using petrol bombs and sometimes even burning them. They are harassed and their trucks torched. The governor announced that it was safe for Kashmiris to export their fruit produce, but on 19th, the drivers were again attacked. This questions the commitment of the governor of removing the economic blocade and allowing free movement of trucks.

Now coming to my views. I don’t understand what makes innocent Kashmiris their target. During the agitation here,in Kashmir, not a single non-muslim was harassed. And instead they (non-muslims) also participated in our agitation, because the issue was not communalized here. The protests were a medium to stop the land transfer to non-Kashmiris. I fail to understand from where the religion came into the protests. The support of our sikh brothers should be lauded as they walked hand in hand with us during the protests and also provided Langars at various places.

Its very astonishing to learn that BJP, which is spear-heading the protests and communalizing  this issue, itself has limited Kavad yatra in Uttarkhand. Citing environmental reasons, the BJP government itself reduced the number of pilgrims who could attend the yatra and also reduced its duration. They have limited the number of pilgrims to 150 per day and closed down all the food outlets, banned the movement of general public and ponies. If they can limit the yatra to save Goumukh glacier, why doesn’t anyone think about the Kolohoi glacier. Just because ours is a Muslim majority state, these baseless points are being raised. How can they stop yatra in their state and then raise such issues in other state? In this case, where did their Hindutva attitude go. How could they allow this thing to happen in a state ruled by themselves? Its clear that they are doing this to gain vote bank. Quoting Sachin Pilot, a Congress MP, ‘We should be very thankful to BJP. What Pakistan couldn’t do in 20 years, BJP did it in 10 days.’ He said this while commenting on division of state.

The major solution to end this crisis is to divide the state. Jammu along with Kathua and half of the Udhampur should constitute a separate state. Also Indian government should consider repealing of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which entitles the Indian security forces to arrest anyone or shoot on mere suspicion. Second one is opening the LOC for trade purposes and allow free movement of Kashmiris. The last one would be freeing all the political prisoners.

The Indian government has been doing a hell load of injustices to us. The protests in Jammu were more violent than in Kashmir. Still more protesters died in Kashmir. The people in Jammu burnt “The Holy Qur’an”, while as no disrespect was shown towards any religion here in Kashmir. Still more kashmiris were killed. The Jammuites enforced an economic blocade on Kashmir. when Kashmiris protested they were again killed. I ask these questions to every human being, whenever we ask for our fundamental rights, why do we always get bullets? Why is a Kashmiri life so under-valued? Why are our sentiments always played with? If India considers us a part of it, then why does it have such an indifferent attitude towards Kashmiris? Perhaps there would be no answer to my questions, because no one ever wants to answer them. It hardly matters to them that daily we loose a brother and eventually we have become used to it. Everyone wants and has the right to live a peaceful life, but here you don’t let us do the same.

I am not against followers of any religion…Personally, I have very deep respect for every religion…I have read volumes of books on Sufism and life of prophet Mohammed and I am really impressed by both…There are always two sides of a coin..Hindus and Muslims of J&k are exactly the same-different sides of same coin…What looks freedom struggle to you, looks like an act of terorism to Hindus and vice versa…The so called Hindu Fundamentalists are considered as Nationalists in Jammu region..You and me..we both are portraiting our own views and we are both right and wrong…Azadi is a concept..Poltical concept…and poltics always divides..Humanity is greater than any religion of the world… union of hearts is real azadi..Keep doing what you beleive in..and always remember,”we are two sides of same coin”…

There is a long communication gap of 18 years between the two communities of kashmir…communication gap always leads to Mistrust..There has to be more people to people contact…then only things will get better..Majority of population of both communities of Kashmir hear about each other from newspapers or t.v channels…..and we both don’t trust these mediams….There should me more interaction of groups of people for better understanding…Also there should be a religious debate between the two communities, so that there will be better understanding and respect for religious sentiments of both the communities of kashmir..

    Great post!..

Goverment made life hell for Kashmiris..For soem reason,I strongly believe that the problem as of today(Amarnath) was a pre planned drama by UPA government to divert attention form Nuclear deal-all those money flows in parliment etc etc..They know that the best target to make people aggitated is to play with sentiments..,especially religious sentiments..

I pray all this ends soon and kashmiris, all muslims, hindus and budddhists have a peaceful life..

Nimmi i wish to add to ur knowledge that the issue was not anti hindu…we are still ready to give the land to kashmiri hindus.. but BJP as usual communailzed the issue for mere electoral gains.. we have proof that BJP itself had enforced a blocade and when they sensed serious reactions, they denied of having any role in it.. Jammuites communalised the issue here… we faced shortage of food, medicines. and we know that blocade was enforced..our fruit produce ws about to rot so as last alternative we marched to muzaffarabad to sell fruit…but there too bullets were sprayed on us.. i wish that all indians know the plight of kashmiris..

The present situation in J&k needs to be reviewed seriously by the common people of state…The present hard stand by hurriyat and sangrash samiti members will lead only to further chaos and sufferings to common people of state…Hurriyat and sangrash samiti members should come to a table and at least start a healthy discussion in order to sort out the present crisis in J&k….The different terminologies of almighty has already taken some precious lives in the state….There is a universal law of nature which applies equally to everyone irrespective of caste, creed, gender, beleifs and religions….Nature does not discriminate or favour anyone….Proper communication between the common people of state is a first step towards resolving this crisis….

We are to be blamed for the mess we are in– The previous generations (SORRY TO SAY) of Kashmiris were not serious people, they easily believed others– may be long years of tyranny had effected their political thinking .I as a young boy in 70s has seen all this-when people used to go in to pointless and fruitless discussions and fight with each other and also ask any elderly person about earlier times he will say the same—The political decisions are not taken on personal or myopic considerations .It has exactly happened ,when people believed blindly in their leaders and took them for granted and the leaders were prejudiced and narrow minded .They lacked nationalism and were against each others throat. This has been tragedy of past kashmiri Muslim leadership –they had never shown tolerance to each other. They kept their false ego above peoples interest.
Today we are reaping for their misdeeds and nation of Kashmir is in turmoil.
One should not fear from introspection. God doesn’t change destiny of nations unless they are ready for a change.

I fully agree with mr. sandeep. Violance breeds violance only. Separatists and so called nationlists are playing with the sentiments of common people. If Yatra was going on peacefully from thousand of years, then what was the need to transfer the land. It is a joint plot hatched by the central govt. and state government to divert the attention from the controversial nuclear deal. J&K is burning from last more than two months, but central govt. is a mute spectator. they are not interested in solving the problems of common people.

  12. India Unbound Says:

    Saadat,

Rest of Indians consider Kashmiris as their brothers. Lets hope that Kashmir returns to normalcy and Kashmir issue is resolved permanently. However, the reason why few Indians dont trust Kashmiris is the plight of Kashmiri Pandits who now live like refugees in their own country.

I appreciate your gesture towards Kashmiri Pandits :-) and hope that Hindus and Muslims, not just in Kashmir but throughout India live in harmony with each other.

As far as your definition of Azadi is concerned, I feel demilitarisation is not possible unless terrorism is rooted out. Political prisoners can be freed but terrorists should not be. Trade ties with POK is welcome. However, I would like to know, what do you mean by Autonomy ? What is wrong if Kashmir has the same status as that of any state in India ?

  13. admin Says:

    @ India Unbound
Mr. vikas, i wish to tell you that all the terrorist attacks in which we lost more than 2 lakh lives are all meant for the security forces. they cannot harm us because they too are kashmiris. now u would be asking y would they attack security forces… probably u should be asking them how they have turned our life into hell. its the Indian army that has brought miseries to our lives.. we are not anti india- we are anti indian army..

we do not ask for complete demilitarisation, we just want them to be shifted out from civil areas…let them be at borders..

And regarding autonomy. it means that jnk govt will have more powers even though it remains a state of the Union of India.. and i have asked only for the release of political prisoners and not terrorists..

we deserve some compensation for what we have suffered from so many years which is justified by proclaiming jnk a special state..

    regards
    xx

    Saadat,
I cant say about the politicians but the rest of india considers kashmiris as their own countrymen. Its just that most of the rest of india doesnt know the extent of the plight of the people in kashmir. The main reason for this being the Indian media somehow not telling the entire truth to the rest of the country. The picture they show us is modified to some extent to favour the army. Maybe because they dont want us to lose faith in the army. But whatever the reason , i think if the media is a bit more honest and upfront about the issues and the incidents in kashmir, then the rest of india would see the true picture and ofcourse, side with the kashmiris.
I dont understand why these human rights crimes are not a part of the news as much as they should be and as honestly as they should be. The media can change things and increse awareness in the rest of India about whats happening in kashmir.

  17. peace Says:

it is july 2009,people of kashmir are said that there will be demilitarisation.but we know india will never remove army from kashmir.

india will adopt one of the following ways to mock kashmiri :

1.making of serious conditions in kashmir like explosions
2.make such statements like china and pak will attack kashmir
3.india can remove a few thousand army personal.

but the complete solution is remove complete army
